A tag is a keyword under which data or content is grouped online. In societies that depend on digital technology to sort through vast amounts of information, tagging is an instrumental, and not always acknowledged, structure of classification. On this website, we have tagged our artifacts by subject, offering another sorting technique to compare with the pathways.

TERA members who teach at the intersection of technology, ecology, and religion pooled our collective experiences and our syllabi to select initial tags. We combined and refined the terms as we passed them between us, and then applied them to the artifacts. As with other parts of this website, our exercise in making tags and sorting artifacts is meant as inspiration for you to do the same. You may want to sort the artifacts differently or introduce new tags altogether. If you use your own artifacts, consider how applying broad structuring categories can make or break the connections between them.
